Italian mystery series often draw on Italy's rich historical and cultural heritage, incorporating elements of Italian history, art, and architecture into their storylines. This cultural backdrop adds depth and authenticity to the narratives, making them unique and captivating. They frequently feature stunning and picturesque Italian landscapes and the cityscapes of Rome and Naples to the rolling hills of Tuscany and the ancient streets of Sicily. The settings in these series play a significant role in establishing the mood and atmosphere of the show.
They frequently draw upon complex family relationships and dynamics intertwining them with the central mystery or crime. The exploration of family ties, loyalty, and betrayal adds a compelling layer to the storytelling that often strikes a balance between traditional storytelling elements and modern themes, creating a unique juxtaposition of old and new in the overall approach to storytelling. The selections I chose range from various locations and periods, different settings, and moods, but what they have in common are great stories derived from a series of books. Best viewed on your
laptop. Enjoy!
